A Family Weekend at The Mayton
A Family Weekend at The Mayton, Cary:
Small-Town Charm with a Sophisticated Touch
There’s something magical about small towns that instantly makes you slow down — and Cary, North Carolina, is one of those charming places that welcomes you with open arms. Our recent stay at The Mayton, a boutique hotel in the heart of town, was everything we hoped for: relaxing, stylish, and perfect for families.
The hotel’s location is unbeatable, right next to a beautiful park ideal for families traveling with kids. We loved starting our mornings with a stroll to one of the nearby coffee shops to grab a latte, then heading to the park for some playtime and peaceful moments under the trees.
If you’re in the mood for something more laid-back, there’s a little house right next to the hotel that sells beer and wine — and here’s a fun surprise: you can actually walk around town with your drink in hand! Each cup is clearly labeled with where it was purchased, and it’s perfectly legal. For the U.S., that was quite an unexpected and delightful discovery.
Inside the hotel, every detail felt thoughtful and family-friendly. Our spacious room came with two pack & plays, a bathtub, and plenty of room to spread out — a true luxury when traveling with little ones. The design blends comfort with elegance, making it easy to relax without sacrificing style.
Breakfast at Peck & Plum, the hotel’s restaurant, was simply divine. But on Saturdays and Sundays, it turns into the go-to brunch spot in town. The place gets lively and full, buzzing with locals and guests enjoying delicious dishes, fresh coffee, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Just a short walk away, we also discovered an amazing public library — a real treasure for families. With endless books and a cozy space for kids to read and explore, it’s another reason why Cary feels so family-oriented and inviting.
If you’re planning a family getaway where luxury meets laid-back charm, The Mayton in Cary, NC, is a perfect choice. It’s proof that traveling with kids doesn’t mean giving up sophistication — just that you get to enjoy it together, one coffee, park walk, and brunch at a time.
Tips for Families and Couples
If you’re planning to stay at The Mayton with little ones, here are a few tips to make your trip even smoother:
Call ahead to request pack & plays. The hotel provides them upon request, and reserving in advance ensures they’ll be ready in your room when you arrive.
Bring your essentials. We couldn’t spot a grocery store or pharmacy within walking distance, so it’s a good idea to pack your kids’ snacks, diapers, and other daily necessities.
Take advantage of the park next door. It’s perfect for playtime breaks and relaxed family walks between meals or naps.
